A key story in the report features the partnership with Aaina Hub in Walsall, where two local women were trained as Community Mile Champions, leading a movement that encouraged older women to increase physical activity and build confidence by doing ‘chair yoga’.

This project, funded by Maximus, created a supportive space for women in Walsall to engage in regular physical and social activities in the form of ‘chair yoga’—improving wellbeing and strengthening community ties.
One Champion said, “Being part of this has changed how I feel about my health and my role in the community. We’ve created something really special together.”
Anna Skeats, CEO of the Mason Foundation, said: “Thanks to funding from Maximus, we partnered with Aaina Hub to bring the Community Mile to Walsall. By training local Champions, we helped women lead their community toward better health and confidence. Their leadership is a powerful example of how volunteers can transform lives from within.”
The Mason Foundation’s 2024 Impact Report highlights this and many other projects driven by volunteers across the UK, celebrating their role in building stronger, healthier communities.
