The theme for this year competition was 'Wonderful Water' the theme could be interpreted as broadly as the young artist wishes and did not need to conform to the dictionary definitions of the words.

This year’s competitions had entries from a number of local schools, the entries were judged by a local artist with the winners going on to compete against other schools from Rotary District 1210, which covers most of Staffordshire, Shropshire and part of the West Midlands.

This year’s winner in the Intermediate age group was Georgia Capewell, in the senior winner age group was Evelyn Williams.

Georgia and Evelyn were presented with certificates and prizes of artists equipment by The Cannock Rotary Club president David Marklew on Friday, 23 May at Hednesford school. In marking the presentations David thanked the staff at Kingsmead High School for encouraging their pupils to take part in Rotary organised competitions and congratulated both pupils for winning this year’s district finals and wished them the best of luck in the Rotary national finals, which are currently being judged with the results expected in June.

The Rotary annual competition for budding artists is open to all those in schools and college communities and those who are home educated, along with members of any other young people’s community organisations, such as Scout Groups, Girl Guides, Church Youth Groups, if you would like to take part in the competition in 2025/26, please contact The Rotary Club of Cannock through their website - cannockrotary.co.uk
