The popular annual fundraising ride will guide cyclists through some of the Midlands’ most picturesque countryside, whilst raising vital funds for St Giles Hospice.
The event will start and end at St Giles in Whittington and supporters can choose from three scenic routes, designed to suit all levels of experience.
The £35 entry fee gives participants access to all the event’s well-stocked feed stations and a medal at the finish line. Participants will also enjoy a complimentary post-ride lunch, courtesy of The English Indian — an acclaimed local fast-fusion street food vendor.
Among those taking part is Gavin, who has previously ridden alongside his two sons, Oliver and Edward, in memory of his wife, Sarah. Gavin said: “My wife, – the boys’ mummy – passed away in March 2017 after receiving wonderful end of life care at St Giles Hospice.
“Their support allowed us to create precious final memories together. St Giles has been there for us ever since, which is why we’ve been fundraising – to help more families get the care they need when it matters most.”
The 29 mile route is perfect for beginners or those looking to get back on their bike, while the 60 mile option allows cyclists to push themselves further and soak up even more of the countryside. For experienced riders, the 100 mile route presents the ultimate challenge, taking participants through Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire.
Zoe Wright, Community and Events Manager at St Giles Hospice, said: "We are incredibly excited to have combined our cycling events into one big ride this year, and we’d love as many supporters as possible to join us!
“Whether you’re riding in memory of a loved one, pushing yourself to a new personal best, or simply enjoying the journey, every mile you cycle and every pound you raise will make a huge difference to local people, and their loved ones, living with a terminal illness."
