The two-day exhilarating event saw nearly 100 members of staff take on the formidable challenge of running between each of the trust’s 15 schools. Colleagues joined for different legs of the run throughout the weekend, with many completing the full 85km route.
The aim of the event was to raise funds for the Foundation’s Bed and Breakfast campaign, helping to ensure that all children across the trust’s schools have a bed to sleep in and breakfast each morning.
The runners left at 10am on Saturday, May 17 from Greenways Primary Academy (Stoke) before visiting Milton Primary Academy (Stoke), Sir Thomas Boughey Academy (Halmer End) and Newcastle Academy (Newcastle-under-Lyme), before arriving at Clayton Hall Academy (Clayton) at 2.30pm.
The second day, Sunday, May 18, started at Kingswinford Academy (Dudley) at 8.00am, with participants running to Colley Lane Primary Academy, Windsor High School and Sixth Form, Tenterfields Primary Academy and Manor Way Primary Academy (all in Halesowen) before visiting Windsor Olympus Academy in Winson Green.
The runners then ran up to Walsall, visiting Goldsmith Primary Academy and Rivers Primary Academy, then into South Staffordshire, stopping at Cheslyn Hay Academy before ending at Great Wyrley Academy at 4.30pm with a family fun run and celebration for students and their families.
Dawn Haywood, CEO of Windsor Academy Trust, commented: “I am absolutely bursting with pride at the incredible effort and dedication shown by our staff and students. To take on not one, but two marathons in two days, covering such a distance between our schools, is a truly monumental achievement. This spirit perfectly encapsulates the commitment of our Windsor Academy Trust family to supporting our community.
“The funds raised for the Bed and Breakfast campaign will make a tangible difference to the lives of our young people, ensuring they have the security and nourishment they need to thrive. It was wonderful to see so many people come together for the fun run at the end, celebrating this fantastic accomplishment.
“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all those who made the event a resounding success, as well as thank our generous sponsors, CHG, Sync, Relish, XMA and Glen Group, our donors and our supporters.”
