Clubs Friendship links still going strong

On Friday 16th May the Rotary club of Cannock welcomed members, and their families, from the Rotary Club of Bad Kreuznach -Nahetal in Germany. This Tripartite relationship which started over 40 years ago is one of the highlights of the Rotary year. Members from the Brie Pont club in France who make up this 3-way friendship link were unfortunately unable to take part this year due to unforeseen circumstances.
This year’s event was held at St Georges Park, which is the home of English football.
On Friday night there was a visit to nearby Barton Marina for a meal, on Saturday there was a guided coach tour to the Peak District including a visit to Crirch Tramway Village followed by a traditional pub lunch at Wessington before returning to the hotel for some free time.
On Saturday Night there was a gala dinner at the hotel, with entertainment provided by The Seasons Theater Company. Jane Cooper district governor was in attendance and she congratulated the three clubs for their longstanding friendship links and the work they do together.
The district governor and Cannock Rotary President David Marklew then went on to make a special presentation to Allan Rotchell, who is a past president of the Cannock club, for his work leading the Cannock club involvement with Leadwithcare charity. The Leadwithcare is a revolutionary way to help people in low-income countries to work their way out of poverty with dignity.
Over recent years the French & German clubs have supported project in our local area the most recent was the installation of Book Sheds in 20 primary schools and in return the Cannock club has worked German & French clubs on projects to help their communities.
On Sunday there was informal meeting where the clubs gave an update on recent projects and events followed by a light lunch before the Germany club departed for the Airport for there fight home to Germany
The 3 clubs are already planning their next meeting which is scheduled the 19th to 21st June 2026 in Bad Kreuznach.
