The event, supported by Rugeley Town Council as part of their Community Funding initiative, brought together young dancers from across the region to celebrate a year of exceptional achievement — on stage and beyond.
Held in the heart of Rugeley, the Showcase was a joyful celebration of youth talent, teamwork, and community. With over 20 performances across ballet, jazz, street, acro, and musical theatre, the event reflected not only technical excellence, but the growth of a school that continues to reach new heights.
Throughout the past year, Crystal Academy dancers have earned national and international recognition — including World Placements in The Netherlands, Top 3 national finishes, and selections for elite programs such as the British Youth Musical Theatre and Brighton College. Their Street Crews qualified for the British Street Championships, while their Open Teams are actively working toward the prestigious Dance World Cup.

Behind the scenes, the school’s leadership has also been recognised. Principal Kirsty and co-director Jason were awarded Best Family Business through the UK Small Business Awards, and the school itself was named Dance School of the Year not once, but twice — most recently as part of the 2025 Prestige Awards.

The Showcase featured not only current stars but also rising talent — including returning Tiny Dancers, dynamic Mini and Junior Crews, and heartfelt lyrical and ballet performances. The final act, Hot Chocolate, brought the house to its feet. A long-standing favourite, the piece has earned accolades at national competitions and is seen as a legacy number by many of the school’s senior dancers.
In a statement following the event, the Staffordshire County Council Safeguarding Team confirmed:
“Both the report and our conversation with the venue made clear how well organised the event was, and I have no follow-up concerns. On a personal note, thank you for making [our team] so welcome — [they] said [they] really enjoyed meeting you and watching the show.”
Rugeley Town Council’s support through their Community Funding Programme helped make the event possible — covering key venue and operational costs. Their involvement ensured a professional, accessible space for families and performers alike.

Closing the show, Principal Kirsty addressed the audience, praising the resilience, discipline, and heart shown by her students:
“To be a Crystal Academy dancer takes more. It takes strength, courage, and endless passion — and this Showcase proved just how much these young people are capable of.”
Photos and updates from the event are expected to be shared on Crystal Academy’s social media, with early interest already building around next year’s showcase.
