The event took place alongside the charity’s popular Sunshine Club Music Group, where Ron celebrated his milestone with fellow members of the local dementia community.

“Ron is an inspiration to us all,” said Gabby Gould of Home Matters Dementia Support. “He has an incredible zest for life, a love of dancing and singing, and a rare gift for making everyone around him smile. He is truly a very special character.”

Born in Hartlepool as one of five children, Ron spent his early years playing on the sands. He completed a five-year engineering apprenticeship and went on to work on the first British nuclear power station. His outstanding craftsmanship later led him to the Midlands, and eventually around the world, working on furnaces.
