“The mental health walk is an integral part of the weeks activities. It is so important to give pupils the time and facilities to understand how something as simple as walking can positively impact their own mental health,” said Mrs Watson (Designated Safeguarding Lead and Event Organiser).

“I love seeing the whole school together; staff & pupils, enjoying being part of something that matters.”

On Tuesday the school participated in a mile walk on the school’s field. Wednesday’s activities involved the staff taking part in staff rounders match at lunchtime in front of our students. Mr Mason’s (Head of Pyrenees and Teacher of PE) team claimed victory over Mr Phillips’ (Teacher of Business).

The overall winner of the Wolgarston dog agility course was Mrs Duggal (Teacher of Mathematics) and her dog Winnie who completed the course in a record breaking 19 seconds.

Friday was the bikeathon, where staff were competing against sixth form and students in Years 9 and 10. All of the participants volunteered to take part being cheered on by fellow members of staff and sports captains.

After cycling constantly on exercise bikes from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm the results were counted by Mrs Watson. The Wolgarston bikeathon winners this year were... team sixth form who cycled 109 miles. In second place was Himalayas cycling a total of 105 miles followed by Pyrenees who cycled 92 miles.

“I am always so proud of our students and how they conduct themselves whilst supporting each other... and this year is no different,” said Mrs Watson, “All week I have seen pupils make good decisions, cheer on their peers and cheer on our staff.”
