The development, known as Springvale Two, provides 57 one and two-bedroom flats all of which will be available for an affordable rent.

The new homes, located on Millfields Road, have been built by the in-house construction team at GreenSquareAccord (GSA) one of England’s largest providers of housing.

Whilst drawing up plans for the Springvale development, GSA’s construction team worked closely with the City of Wolverhampton Council resulting in unhindered progress through the planning approval process.

City of Wolverhampton Council Leader, Councillor Stephen Simkins, said: “It is great to see the completion of these much-needed new homes in Bilston.

“The development meets the priorities of the council’s housing strategy by bringing forward more affordable, energy efficient housing in our city and supports modern methods of construction to help meet our climate change commitments.

“This development by GreenSquareAccord also builds on the substantial multi-million-pound investment already made in Bilston in recent years – with plenty more driving projects on site or in the pipeline, including the development of employment land at Bilston Urban Village, markets and town centre improvements and a new health and wellbeing facility.”

The first phase of the Springvale development saw office space previously used by GSA converted into 24 one- and two-bedroom apartments let for an affordable rent.

Ryan Oldnall, Development Manager at GSA said: “We are proud to present the second phase of our Springvale development which delivers much needed new affordable homes in Bilston.

“Taken as a whole, the Springvale scheme has provided 81 homes breathing new life into a former office building and social club.

“Delivering this project has been a real team effort with excellent support from colleagues in our in-house construction team as well as key partners LoCaL Homes and City of Wolverhampton Council.”

The homes in both phases of Springvale have been constructed using sustainable timber frames manufactured and supplied by Walsall-based LoCaL Homes. A fabric-first approach has been taken to the design of the apartments which will help those occupying the apartments save money on their heating bills.

Mike Doolan, Sales and Partnerships Manager at LoCaL Homes said: “By constructing the homes using our timber frame panel system in a quality-controlled factory environment, the overall speed of construction has been accelerated, resulting in quicker handovers and earlier occupancy.

“As the home’s fabric is made from a sustainable material it will capture an increased amount of carbon than traditional methods of construction and will be much more thermally efficient. This will subsequently help with the running costs resulting in lower fuel bills for customers.

“LoCaL Homes are delighted to have been a key supplier for Springvale and enjoyed working in partnership with both the City of Wolverhampton Council and GSA.”
