Children at Kidderminster nursery celebrate St George’s Day

Little Trinity Nursery in Kidderminster marked St George’s Day with a vibrant celebration filled with shields, swords, crowns, and themed games.

They showcased their creativity by painting shields and swords adorned with the English flag, learning about the legendary St George, the patron saint of England, who has been honoured annually on 23 April since 1222.

Nursery Manager Gaynor Carter expressed her delight: “The children were incredibly imaginative, and it was wonderful to see them engage with the story of St George.

“Celebrating this day allowed us to participate in a national tradition and instil a sense of pride and history in the little ones.”

St George is not only the patron saint of England but also of soldiers, archers, cavalry, chivalry, farmers, field workers, riders, and saddlers. His legacy is celebrated by Christian churches in various countries and regions, including Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Greece, Georgia, Portugal, Romania, Syria, Lebanon, Catalonia, Alcoi, Aragon, and Rio de Janeiro.
