The current mini golf course, located next to Lakeside Bistro, will be removed this summer and replaced with a vibrant, upgraded 9-hole adventure golf facility. The new course will feature large, eye-catching structures inspired by well-known local landmarks, including Lichfield Cathedral, the Garrick Theatre, Burntwood Climbing Wall, and Beacon Park itself.

The design will bring more colour and creativity, complementing the nearby children’s play area and adding to the park’s appeal for families and visitors of all ages.

The planning application was approved at a meeting of Lichfield District Council’s planning committee held on 7 April.

A spokesperson for Lichfield District Council said: “This new adventure golf facility is improving the tourism offer in Lichfield’s largest area of public green space.

“It also supports our 2050 strategy of encouraging residents to be more active, more often and for longer.”

Katarina Obranovic-O’Dell, Project Manager at Microsports which is delivering the new adventure golf facility, said: “We are thrilled to bring a new level of fun and adventure to Beacon Park with our new adventure golf course.

“It’s designed for all ages to enjoy - whether you’re a family looking for a day out, friends seeking a bit of friendly competition, or just someone who loves the outdoors. This course adds a fresh, playful energy to the park and we can’t wait to see the community come together to enjoy it.”

The new adventure golf course is one of the new or enhanced facilities in the ‘Boosting Beacon’ £600,000 investment using Community Infrastructure Levy funding from local developments. Brand new outdoor padel courts were announced last October, with plans to open later in 2025, along with a new mini nature reserve, wheelchair friendly bouncer and covered area.

The mini golf in Beacon Park is to be replaced with a new adventure golf facility following approval of plans.
