They are inviting 20 other local businesses to step forward right now, pledge their support and be part of creating lasting change by each pledging to raise at least £1,000 to help fund Nightstop’s vital services for young people facing homelessness.

Wyre Forest & South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation Service provides critical support to local young people in crisis (aged 16-35) by offering safe, emergency accommodation. This short-term alternative to sofa surfing, rough sleeping, or inappropriate shelter placements is a lifeline for vulnerable young people, giving them not only safety but also the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity and support. The charity’s preventative work includes mediation services for young people (aged 11-25) and their families to resolve conflicts, prevent family breakdown and avoid future homelessness. They also deliver educational programmes in schools to raise awareness and improve communication skills.

Nightstop’s 20/20 campaign seeks to raise awareness of increasing youth homelessness and raise vital funds to support vulnerable local young people, ensuring they have a safe place to stay and a pathway to a brighter future.

Judith Ford, CEO at Nightstop said: “Youth homelessness isn’t as rare as you might think – it’s often the hidden homeless; those sofa-surfing with no home to call their own. Almost half of the young people who become homeless do so because their parents or care givers are no longer or willing to be able to accommodate them with family breakdown as one of the main factors. This is why Nightstop’s support providing emergency accommodation is so vital and we don’t stop there – we also provide the guidance and support young people need to live independently and move forward to empowered positive lives, as well as delivering preventative work through family mediation – to stop homelessness before it occurs. With increasingly less homes being available for those in crisis, it’s not just about a sticking plaster.”
