Five generations of strong women in one family

13 January 2025 marked a milestone in the Dilvarh household, 99-year-old Surjit Kaur Dilvarh became a great great grandmother to Mia Rosa Kaur Sandhu. This is particularly special as all five generations of these women are first born eldest women.

Surjit Kaur is a resident of Sandwell and has lived there since she arrived from India just after the India and Pakistan partition. Surjit is the pillar of her family and has five children, 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and on 13 January this year reached the most pinnacle moment in her colourful life and became the proud great-great-grandmother to her great-great-granddaughter, Mia Rosa. 

Surjit, Lachmi, Mandeep, Sarita and Mia Rosa are all first born women in the family.
