The annual event, which takes place on 1 May, celebrates all that’s great about the county, its people, places, culture and landscapes.

The first official Staffordshire Day took place in 2016, the year the county turned 1,000 years old. 1 May was chosen as the date through a public poll, as it is the anniversary of Josiah Wedgwood setting up his pottery company in 1759.

This year, the focus is on photography, and organisers want people to submit images of Staffordshire to showcase as part of the celebrations. Whether it's a beautiful landscape shot, a local hidden gem, or a favourite spot in a town or village, the team are waiting for them.

Chosen images will be featured and credited as part of the campaign and shared across social media.

Residents and businesses alike are also being invited to share the message themselves, using the #StaffordshireDay hashtag and by downloading this year's toolkit to help spread the message and love for the county.

Charlotte Cain, Investment Agency Manager at Staffordshire County Council, said: “We’re a great county to visit with great people, amazing attractions and locations and Staffordshire Day is our way of letting everyone know.

“This is our ninth celebration and this year photography is taking centre stage. What better way to showcase our amazing county than through photos and pictures. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re an amateur or a professional, please send us your shots and we'll feature them throughout the celebration.

“Remember there’s also lots of other events taking place on the day and over the weekend, so please join us in celebrating everything that makes our county special. Check out the Visit Staffordshire website to see what’s happening near you, as well as downloading the toolkit and sharing the messages on social media."

Organisers running events as part of the day's celebrations can submit details of these on the Visit Staffordshire website.

To submit an image as part of Staffordshire Day celebrations, email communications@staffordshire.gov.uk with a name and where the photo was taken.
