Rebecca Redfern from Woodview Care Home, based in Newcastle under Lyme, won the Registered Manager Award at last year’s awards.

The glamourous evening event celebrated the best in Staffordshire’s independent care sector, recognising passionate employees and volunteers for the work they do.

Rebecca is now encouraging everyone to get involved with the 2025 awards by sharing her experience. She said: “Being nominated and invited to the ceremony was an award in itself so to win last year, was really special. I would definitely encourage people to give it a go and put your colleagues forward.

“I’m part of an absolutely phenomenal team, from the directors to all the staff in my home. Every day I see the residents and their relatives are happy, and I know we are giving people the care experience they deserve.

“There’s nothing better than seeing residents engaging in activity and laughing and joking and smiling. It makes it all worthwhile. Caring for people, for me, I don't think you can beat this sort of job.”

Now in their eleventh year, the Staffordshire Dignity in Care Awards, will once again recognise the best of the county’s care sector. Anyone working in adult care, paid or unpaid, along with care providers, can be nominated in one of the nine different award categories.

New for this year is Long service Dignity Champion, which will recognise the dedication and remarkable achievements of an individual who has devoted at least 20 years to the adult social care sector.

Cabinet Member for Health and Care at Staffordshire County Council, Jeremy Pert said: “The care sector is a vital part of society, and our awards are a great way of celebrating the importance of having dignity in care.

“Rebecca did really well last year to win her award and it’s great that she’s now urging other people to make a nomination. There are thousands of great paid and unpaid carers right across Staffordshire and we’re keen to show our appreciation and thank them for what they do. If you know a brilliant carer then please get them nominated for a Staffordshire Dignity in Care award.”
