Underground delights at Kingswinford Ladies Luncheon Club
At the February meeting Chairman Ann Rogers welcomed 26 ladies, especially two new members Pat Morgan and Lynette Mand, for a three-course lunch, the AGM and to hear speaker Mr Keith Edwards’ illustrated talk entitled “Underground Delights”.
The AGM gave the Chairman the opportunity to thank both old and new members for their loyal attendance and the committee for continuing to serve. Wendy Meredith was thanked for being an excellent President.
Mr Keith Edwards is a member of the Dudley Caving Club as well as the Midlands Rescue Club. In particular he enjoys making videos of his underground adventures which have a large following on the internet. His pictures of underground lakes, water falls, colourful curtains, stalagmites and stalactites, often reached by absailling down deep limestone caves and abandoned mines, involve scrambling long distances in the dark and crawling through narrow rock passages. In 2021 he was part of a 300 man rescue team in South Wales when the floor of a cave collapsed trapping a caver and it took 54 hours to rescue him. The whole talk was fascinating and left members thrilled but deciding it was not for them.
The new speaker programme is now complete and will be issued in March, when the speaker will talk about how to “Discover You” and in April Mr Roger Edwards on “The World of TV Game Shows”.
Meetings are held on the second Friday each month at The Lodge, Wellington Road, Dudley 12pm for 12.30pm departing at 3pm. Visitors are most welcome to come along and meet us and can attend three times before deciding to join.
