Eye health clinic available at Brownhills opticians
An opticians in Brownhills is reminding the local community of the eye health service it provides on behalf of the NHS, which can save unnecessary trips to the GP or hospital.

The team at Specsavers on the High Street are able to detect and manage a wide range of eye conditions, including red eye, dry eyes and floaters in the vision through CUES (Community Urgent Eyecare Service). CUES provides urgent assessment, treatment or referral for sudden onset eye problems. More complex conditions can also be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
"We’re accredited to deliver this NHS-funded service to individuals with sudden onset eye problems or minor eye conditions," says Specsavers Brownhills store director, Mohit Verma. "We’ve picked up lots of different conditions through CUES, from more common conditions such as Blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelids) or giant papillary conjunctivitis (swelling and irritation of the inside of the eyelid), to more unusual conditions such as retinal detachments and branch retinal vein occlusion.
"Providing eyecare services to the community is a fundamental part of what we do. And if we can help make sure that not only are customers seen more quickly when they have a problem, but that unnecessary trips to already stretched GPs and hospitals are avoided, that’s a big benefit."
Regular eye examinations are really important to help stay on top of your eye health. If you do notice something that isn’t quite right, we encourage you to book an appointment so that an optician can carry out an eye test in store.
NHS eye health clinics are available in most Specsavers stores nationwide and where services are provided on behalf of the NHS, there is no cost to the customer. Appointments can be booked at short notice with availability seven days a week.
