Kidderminster hero takes on 'brutal' triathlon to support young people's charity in their 20th anniversary year

Shaun Marshall, much loved Kidderminster postman and dedicated local fundraiser, is set to take on one of the most gruelling challenges imaginable—Brutal Events Extreme Triathlon—all in support of local charity Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation Service. Through his incredible feat, Shaun aims to raise at least £2,500 to help some of the most vulnerable young people across the area.

The challenge, starting on 20 September, involves a 5-mile open water swim, a 232-mile bike ride, a run up Snowdon, and an additional 45 miles to the finish line. Shaun aims to complete this monumental test of endurance in 40 hours.

“This is my toughest challenge to date and I’m taking it on not just to push my own limits but to make a real difference for local young people who need support,” said Shaun Marshall.

“Nightstop provides vital services, and I’m proud to do my part to help them continue their important work and celebrate their 20th anniversary.”

Wyre Forest and South Worcestershire Nightstop and Mediation Service offers safe emergency accommodation and crisis support to young people aged 16-25 facing homelessness or housing instability. In their preventative work, the charity provides a mediation service for young people aged 11-25 and their families to resolve conflicts, prevent family breakdown, and avoid future homelessness. They also deliver educational programmes in schools to raise awareness of youth homelessness, improve communication skills and to make sure young people know where to turn to should they need support.

Coralie Hudson, Fundraising Manager at Nightstop said: “We are incredibly grateful to Shaun for supporting Nightstop with his incredible challenge – and also rather in awe! From talking to Shaun, we know it is certainly going to stretch him to the limits, and we cannot thank him enough for putting our young people at the heart of his fundraising efforts.”

Every pound raised through Shaun’s efforts will directly benefit the charity’s vital work locally. The charity relies on the support of their community to enable them to continue their support for vulnerable young people.

With £270 already raised, Shaun is calling on the local community to get behind him and help reach his target of £2,500.
