West Midlands developer supports social enterprise with materials donation
Affordable homes developer Morro Partnerships, has supported the All Saints Action Network (ASAN) in Wolverhampton, near to its regeneration project at the former Royal Hospital, with a donation of materials.
ASAN is a charity and social enterprise with its vision to improve the quality of life for all people who live and work in the All Saints area of Wolverhampton.
ASAN runs community enterprises and delivers initiatives that help improve the lives of local people through developing their skills, increasing the circular economy and reducing the impacts of poverty.
As part of Morro’s commitment to becoming better community makers, and going beyond simply building its affordable homes, the developer donated wooden pallets, chairs, and tables, which went to ASAN’s warehouse to be stripped down and repurposed.
These materials will support ASAN in its five strategic objectives when supporting the All Saints community, which consist of working with local people to establish community managed services, to work towards a sustainable approach to the organisation’s activities, and provide a route to employment through training, the development of skills, and building local capacity.
Shobha Asar-Paul, chief executive officer at All Saints Action Network, said: “I am grateful to Morro for their part in supporting ASAN in the work we do. We appreciate collaborating with partners who align their efforts with local priorities.”
Abdul Mozzamdar, Head of Social Value and Early Careers at Morro Partnerships, said: “It’s important to all of us at Morro to leave a lasting legacy in our communities, as we work towards making our new homes better places to live.
“All Saints Action Network do such fantastic community led work in Wolverhampton that we felt very strongly about helping to support them in some way. We hope that they continue the good work that their organisation has been doing and look forward to future opportunities to support them.”
Situated in the heart of Wolverhampton, Morro worked in partnership with Walsall Housing Group (whg) to refurbish the grand old hospital building, breathing new life into Wolverhampton and creating 192 new homes alongside the building, bringing communities closer together.
This donation further cements Morro's commitment to recycling, which is strengthened through its partnership with waste management experts, Bakers Environmental Solutions. All sites have dedicated segregation zones, reducing the amount of materials sent to landfill and enabling materials to be recycled back into the environment more quickly and efficiently.
With a pipeline of over 2,500 plots across the Midlands, Morro places an emphasis on community, collaborating with sustainable contractors and suppliers, to allow for greater impact on the community and the environment.
