Justine Halifax, who is the CEO and founder of Angel Media PR, was “thrilled” to be invited to the Lichfield campus of South Staffordshire College to deliver a talk entitled “Media Insider Secrets”.

The former award-winning journalist, whose work has appeared in a plethora of print and online media, from national daily newspapers and online platforms to international magazines, shared her top tips to a packed lecture room of film and media Level 3 students on how to break into and navigate the industry.

From Sir Paul McCartney to travelling the world...The students were intrigued to hear how Justine’s career had seen her meet celebrities, like Sir Paul McCartney, alongside everyday heroes and heroines - including Paul Dadge, the 7/7 London bombings hero, and the late Holocaust survivor Magda Bloom – to being a court reporter, covering murder trials, and travelling the world as a travel journalist.

Justine, who followed her talk with a Q&A session, said it was great to see so many diverse media questions fired her way and the enthusiasm of students hoping to launch careers in  TV, radio, film, news or magazine journalism.

Media Lecturer Lynsey Brown described the session as “incredibly insightful”.

She added: “I can’t thank Justine enough for spending the afternoon with our students. They gained so much from her expert advice and insights about the media industry. In our later recap lesson, it was fantastic to see that they had all remembered her words of advice.

“The feedback from everyone was fantastic and we hope that we can get her back soon to run a creative writing workshop.”

Students posed diverse questions to help further their future careers Mother-of-two Justine, whose media expertise was recruited by Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce to be a PR mentor to businesses, as part of its former Let’s Do Mentoring programme, also delivers talks to businesses on how to be their own PR pro, alongside other workshops, as well as other organisations.
