Kidderminster care home have a ‘hoot’ with owls
Hollyfields care home in Kidderminster was full of animal magic when Head Falconer; Ryan Stocks, from Owl-Adventures brought along a ‘parliament’ of owls for the residents to meet.
Ryan provided an engaging session full of facts as he showcased his majesties birds. Giving interesting facts whilst gently passing the birds around from hand to hand with flying demonstrations in between, he spoke informatively about their individual feeding regimes, habitat and lifecycle answering every question we had to ask.
General Manager Alison Moseley-Shaw said: “Our residents showed no fear today, they love to push themselves and experience everything life has to offer, finding joy in animals of all types; domestic and wild! We’re always looking for new and exciting activities for the residents and today we have seen the enjoyment and therapeutic influence even a barn owl can bring.”
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of engaging physical, mental and spiritual activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities.
