Performing arts pupils poised to bring iconic rom-com to life

Set to be a “spectacular, funny and heart-warming show”, students at The Hart School in Rugeley will be treading the boards next week when their grace their school hall stage to perform their version of the former Broadway hit Legally Blonde The Musical.

The multi-award-winning musical offers audiences a modern take on the original Legally Blonde film, which first aired back in 2001 starring actress Reese Witherspoon.

Still featuring the romantic love story at its heart, with a don’t judge a book by its cover and have faith in yourself message, pupils are currently working hard on the final touches to the musical which they will perform across three nights from Wednesday, June 19 to Friday, June 21.

As a proud part of Creative Education Trust, The Hart School has excelled in performing arts for several years, with students performing at high-profile locations, including Disneyland in Paris, and it also boasts its own Performing Arts Faculty.

Ms Rachael Sandham, Principal of the school, which also offers a full time performing arts course in its Sixth Form, said: “We endeavour to offer performing arts opportunities for all of our students and our whole school end of year productions are always a highlight in our annual performing arts calendar.

“We’re particularly looking forward to this latest school production as, from the sneak previews I’ve seen, it will be a spectacular, funny and heart-warming show, which will not only showcase our talented students performing arts skills, but will definitely entertain you all at the same time. Tickets for Legally Blonde The Musical, which has a 12+ age guidance/parents discretion, are priced £7.50 each and can be purchased through Parent Pay or by calling the school and ordering tickets via bank transfer. All performances start at 7pm and are open to members of the local community as well as students’ family and friends.
