Rushall Olympic struggle continues after third straight league defeat
Rushall Olympic's miserable league form continue as they were beaten by Southport
Rushall Olympic remain entrenched in a National League North relegation battle after their 2-0 defeat to Southport on Tuesday night.
The Pics are second bottom on 10 points – three points adrift of safety – after suffering their third consecutive league defeat.
A block on the line from Birmingham City loanee Laiith Fairnie kept things level, but Southport found their way through as Danny Lloyd pounced to score from close range.
The Pics created little, though, with Jaden Charles’ deflected shot going wide about the closest they went before Marcus Carver doubled Southport’s lead with a measured finish in stoppage time.
Sam Mantom finally tested the home goalkeeper just after with a shot saved at the near post, but it was far too little and far too late.
Meanwhile, Alex Bradley’s second-half strike fired Stourbridge past Sporting Khalsa into the second round of the Walsall Senior Cup.
Bradley struck six minutes after the break, burying the ball into the back of the net from outside the penalty area.
It was the Glassboys’ first ever game in the competition and they join Chasetown, Darlaston Town, Coleshill Town, Hednesford Town, Lichfield City and Rushall Olympic in the next round – with a clash between Boldmere St Michaels and Brocton still to come.
