The race meeting at Perry Barr will go ahead as planned from 7.30pm.

Officials said an improving forecast for dry and brighter conditions for the rest of the day has given the fixture the green light.

A win will take the Heathens back above Birmingham and into the play-off places as they head into the final quarter of their regular fixtures.

Club chairman Nigel Pearson said: “We are very pleased with the way in which the track has taken the rain, which has now cleared, and there are no problems anticipated for tonight.

“It would have been easy to have taken a panic decision first thing this morning and called the match off due to the overnight rain, but that would have been the wrong move.

“We’re very much looking forward to what is an extremely important meeting, and I know Richard Hall is champing at the bit to make his debut for the club.

“We urge supporters to turn out and get behind the boys, their backing does make a big difference and a win tonight could be crucial for our season with several big matches to come.”
