DK battled their way to a 22-8 success at home to Hereford thanks to tries from Stefan Shillingford, Charles Baffour and Tommy Walker, while Sam Vaughan added seven points with the boot.

It was the first time DK have failed to land the extra bonus point this term, but coach Neil Shillingford was pleased to have got another test out of the way.

“It was always going to be a tough game and we probably made hard work of it at times,” said Shillingford.

“We needed to get a bit of pace into the game, but we take the win and move on.

“We would have taken that result at the beginning of the day because they will take points off other sides.

“It ticks another box and it was a case of job done.”

Second-placed DK face another stern test on Saturday when they travel to face a Kenilworth side sitting one place below them.

Kenilworth have been winning games but not putting cricket scores on teams,” added Shillingford.

“From reports we have had they are very solid defensively and kick a lot if ball .

“But it’s about us trying to impose our game on them.”

Tough side to play against they defend very well.

Needed to get the ball away quicker from the breakdown.

Dominant in the scrum so we opted for a lot of scrums which takes a little bit if flow away from the game.

But Kidderminster are still searching for their first win of the season after going down 60-10 at Whitchurch.
