Dudley Kingswinford deliver trouncing to keep winning start
Dudley Kingswinford maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with victory away at Worcester.
All the ingredients came together for the Blues as they held off a Worcester resurgence in the second half to win 54-14.
It gives the side their third win in three games, after beating Droitwich and Whitchurch.
They sit top of the Midlands One West division after their impressive start.
The opening moves saw DK edge on to the attack with Joe Dunn, Will Hancox, and Charlie Baffour prominent in an attack down their left.
This led to a DK scrummage, from which the visitors were awarded a penalty and opted for another scrum in the shadow of the Worcester posts.
After some impressive handling from the backline, it was winger Charlie Baffour who charged over the line to score the first try of the game, before Sam Vaughan earned two more points with a conversion.
The same two scorers were on hand moments later when Baffour raced down the wing and Vaughan scored the conversion to double the score.
Worcester came back into the game in the closing minutes of the first half and scored a try.
Following a penalty, Worcester applied pressure and their fly-half was able to kick to his right wing, who gathered the ball and made it across the line, which was converted just before the whistle. Will Hancox went under the posts for DK in the second half, again converted by Vaughan.
Worcester responded again with a converted try of their own shortly after.
A strong defensive line from DK then held off a wave of Worcester attacks before the visitors picked up the rest of their points.
A try by Pete Griffiths gave DK the try bonus point and it was converted again by the consistent Vaughan.
Baffour added DK’s fifth try, and his first hat-trick, after some quick handling from the backs.
Vaughan got a try of his own shortly after, which he converted, before a try from Callum Nicholls.
The game finished with a try from winger Tommy Walker, who went under the Worcester posts after a kick from winger Baffour.
