Corry believes England can grab final spot
England have nothing to fear ahead of their bid for World Cup glory in New Zealand, said former captain Martin Corry today.
England have nothing to fear ahead of their bid for World Cup glory in New Zealand, said former captain Martin Corry today.
The past 15 months have seen the Red Rose make encouraging progress under Martin Johnson's stewardship, claiming the RBS 6 Nations title and securing home and away victories over Australia with a more enterprising style of play.
But they stuttered during their warm-up Tests ahead of the global showpiece.
Those included a 19-9 defeat to Wales in Cardiff, but ended with a strong performance as Ireland were blown away in Dublin.
Former Leicester lock and back-rower Corry believes a place in the final at Eden Park in Auckland is up for grabs.
Corry, who believes the pressure will get to pre-tournament favourites New Zealand, said: "I think England have been inconsistent so there is not a huge amount of confidence.
"But England have been very good at times and in the last 12 months they have beaten everyone in their side of the draw."
