Two-time PDC major title winner Colin Lloyd will feature at the Cleveland Arms Sports Bar, Stowheath Lane, next Thursday night.

It comes less than 48 hours before the 2016 Grand Slam gets underway for eight days with the Saturday afternoon session at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, writes Craig Birch.

Lloyd played in the first edition of the competition in 2007 and reached the knockout stages, as he did in 2009 and 2010.

'Jaws' has been getting his teeth into doing exhibitions full-time this year, after losing his Pro Tour Card. He chose not to go to Qualifying School in January.

The 43-year-old was the PDC's No 1 for all but three months between April 2005 and January 2007 and won the 2004 World Grand Prix and 2005 World Matchplay.

He said: "I'm enjoying myself, it's been a fun year going around the country meeting people and having a good time.

"Darts has been a massive part of my life for the last 17 years, since I joined the PDC circuit, and I'd like to thank everyone around the world who's helped make it so enjoyable.

"I still love the game, I'm still keeping busy on the exhibition circuit and, who knows, I might even return to competing in the PDC in the future."

The thrower from Colchester in Essex will play legs against members of the audience, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Money raised will go to the Poppy Appeal.

There will also be a raffle, action and question and answer session with Lloyd hosted by Sky Sports commentator Nigel Pearson, who lives in Wombourne. Walk-on girl Tanya Pickering will also feature.

Entry for the event, sponsored by Tippers Building Materials. is just £8. Passes can bought in advance, by contacting the Cleveland Arms on 01902 451021 or calling in, and on the night.

The Grand Slam, sponsored by Singha Beer, is from November 12-20. For tickets, dial the Civic Box Office on 0870 320 7000 or go to www.theticketfactory.com/pdc.
