Rangers seal the deal in style with another goal spree
Claregate Park Rangers celebrated winning Beacon Sunday League honours in their own free-scoring style.
The Park rounded off their league programme with yet another goal spree, hitting mid-table opponents Compton FC 8-0 to secure the Paycare Eastern championship, writes Dave McLean.
This final game triumph enabled Claregate to take the silverware by a three-point margin from Trysull Athletic, having blasted an average of seven goals per game in what was a reduced nine-match programme due to Covid19.
Leading Park marksman Rodney Williams led in style once more with a three-goal return, supported by individual efforts from Joe Manley, Jordan Stevens, Joe Prosser, Tom Czerepaninec and Isaac Meggoe.
FC Premier U21s rounded off their season with a sixth league win after hitting back from two goals down to deny lowly Bushbury Hill a second successive league triumph.
Ryan Haddon and Charlie Russell had given Bushbury a 2-0 interval advantage before the Premier boys bounced back in style to grab all three points in the second period thanks to Gianni Singh (two) and Jack Griffin.
In the Concentric Sales & Lettings Western section, it is very much down to the wire for leading lights. Current leaders Woodside Inn and second-placed Sedgley Sporting are separated by three points in the battle for the title.
CTS United, with games in hand, were also in contention before the start of last Sunday’s fixtures, but they had to win all their three remaining games.
But unfortunately they came unstuck away to Dudley Rangers United, for whom Albie Turner tucked away a fine 65th-minute winner, the only goal of a keenly contested affair.
Meanwhile, Woodside rounded off their first ever Beacon campaign with a ninth success in 11 games, running out 2-0 winners at Sedgley Rangers, thanks to second-half efforts from Aaron Lloyd and Steve Jones.
In what was their penultimate fixture, Sedgley Sporting chalked up an indentical victory at home to FC Premier 2014 with Jordan Kelley and Ashley Edwards on the mark.
This outcome leaves Sedgley Sporting requiring at least a three-goal margin win in their final game this weekend at Sedgley Rangers to snatch the crown. Woodside will be watching very closely!

“We will be looking at the return of our ‘open age’ Championship and Development divisions together with divisional cup competitions and the ever popular Lester Charity Cup knockout. An enlarged over-30s section also looks possible,” said Clinton.
“League fees are under review but we are pleased to advise that BCFA affiliation is free for the second season running and will only be subject to club player insurance cost.”
Should pitch availability allow, it is hoped to commence the new season in August.
“We go forward with optimism and hope that we can return to some form of football normality and put the last two seasons behind us,” added Clinton.
