Halesowen College Football Academy student Kartell Dawkins has signed a two year deal with Premier League club Leicester City – after a trial with the team.

Kartell, from Bartley Green, has been training with the club's under 18 and under 23 squads and has represented Leicester City in competitive games against Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion.

The 16-year-old is currently studying on the Level 3 Football Academy Programme in partnership with the Aston Villa Foundation.

As part of the course he studies a Level Three Sport qualification alongside training three times a week.

Kartell has been part of the A team who represent the college and the AVFC Foundation on a Wednesday afternoon.

He was recommended to Leicester City FC by Jamie Rogers, head of division for sport at Halesowen College.

Jamie said: “Kartell has impressed during his time at college particularly in training competitive fixtures and has shown that he has the ability and character to play at a very good level.

"We are delighted at the news of his two year contract.”
