High-flying Jets soar to opening day win

The action kicked off with the Open Knockout Tournament and Jets bagged themselves a scalp. The Division Four outfit hit form to beat Division Two side Wordsley Storks 29-24.

There was no danger of Whitmore A, from Division One, being of the receiving end of a shock as they hammered Division Five side WV Breezers 54-8.

Ladybirds also progressed after beating Sam 4 and Inspire 22-20 and 23-7 respectively.

Phoenix also enjoyed a winning double. They made their one division gap between them and Division Three sides Chasetown B and club-mate Scorpions tell with respective 29-21 and 29-12 victories.

Phoenix Hornets edged out Stourbridge Jets Black 30-25 before going on to overcome Pattingham Belles 34-17. Stourbridge Jets Blue saw off Libra Lea Teal 35-9 and Lunes 22-11. The first round of league action saw Ladybirds stung 28-19 by Phoenix Hornets In Division One. Fusion were in fine form in Division Two, netting an impressive 42 goals to Libra’s 15.

In Division Four, Cresta edge out Diamonds by 18-17.
