Wednesfield hit the comeback trail to make FA Vase progress
Wednesfield, who head to Chasetown for an FA Cup preliminary round replay tonight, were made to work hard to reach the next round of the FA Vase.
The West Midlands Premier outfit came from two goals down to win 3-2 at Stafford Town.
The Cottagers will host Bromyard Town in the next round.
Cradley Town also came out on top on their travels, beating Lutterworth Athletic 3-1 to set up a trip to NKF Burbage.
Wolverhampton Casuals won by the same scoreline at AFC Bridgnorth, with Kieran Whittaker grabbing a brace either side of Scott Sandland’s strike. They will host Romulus.
Dudley Sports were also 3-1 winners, against Shawbury United at home, and will face Hanley Town.
Bewdley Town beat Stratford 1-0 and are due to head to Ashby Ivanhoe. Tipton Town lost 3-0 to Bolehall Swifts.
In the West Midlands Premier, Bilston Town lost 3-2 at home to Smethwick.
Scott Hamilton’s charges are at the bottom of the pile, without a win from their first seven matches, and they have a goal difference of minus 18. They do have a Smedley Crooke Cup tie against FC Darlaston tomorrow night though, which could prove to be a confidence-booster.
In Division One, Willenhall Town are also winless. The Lockmen, managed by Matt Fisher, were defeated 3-0 by Worcester Raiders – making it five straight losses and leaving them second from bottom.
