The club needs to raise £2,000 by the end of the season to stay in business.

Since appearing in the Express & Star last week the club's fund has risen from £710 to £1,170.

Simon Hall, who has been chairman of the club for the last three years, said he was 'pleased' but does not want people to think they were out of the woods.

Mr Hall said: "We have had some big donations of £100 but most have been from £10 to £20. We have received some fivers as well which is absolutely fine because it all adds up.

"We have been going slow and steady so I hope that means we win the race."
