Staffordshire up and running with away win
Staffordshire's darters return to home soil at the end of this month with a first win of the season on the board from their maiden away trip.
The county throwers travelled to Worcestershire, on the back of a home derby defeat to the West Midlands in last month's curtain raiser,
And the visitors returned with a 22-14 victory from the BDO British Inter-Counties Championship Division Two fixture, after four matches.
Staffordshire started like a house on fire in the ladies 'B' affair, where they dropped just one game when Nicola Ellis overcame Debbie Hollins in the last leg with a 16.62 average.
The away side's Lady of that Match was Erin Wilson, who recorded 17.98 over a 3-1 vanquishing of Emma Dawson in the opening clash.
Worcestershire hit back in the men's 'B' contest, coming from 5-4 behind to win the last three games and take the match 7-5.
Callum Matthews notched 27.01 in a 3-1 downing of Dave Harris for Staffordshire, but Steve Rushton's 28.45 wasn't enough to prevent a 3-2 defeat to Worcestershire's top scorer Ian MacKenzie (27.62).
Staffordshire's girl power again came to their aid in the ladies 'A' match, where they mirrored their 'B' counterparts with a 5-1 thumping.
Sarah Cope clocked up 17.08 for the winners, in her 3-0 whitewash of Lynne Arnold. Zoe Jones replied for Worcestershire with 15.49 in a landslide over Wilson who was, this time, on the receiving end.
Staffordshire made sure of victory with a 7-5 victory for their men's 'A' side, reversing the result from the 'B' meeting.
Steven Mason gleaned 33.20 beating Graham Hall 4-1 for the victors, with Worcestershire's Patrick Sinnett coming close with 31.31 in a 4-0 result over John Burgess.
With one extra for each match won, Staffordshire collected 25 points, taking them to fourth place in the early table.
They next host Northamptonshire at the White Eagle Club in Riverway, Stafford, on the weekend beginning October 31.
