It was a day of Molineux farewells on Saturday.

Wolverhampton Wanderers' Ruben Neves walks the pitch with his family at Molineux

I think everyone is hoping that Ruben Neves might play again at Molineux, but his comments after the game suggest he wants to play Champions League football – and no-one can begrudge him of that.

We thought it might have been the case last year when we thought he was off, and one thing I do think about Neves is if the deal is not there and it is not right, he is not going to try and force it either.

I think he would be happy to stay here for another year if that situation ever came about.

As a Wolves fan I would like him to stay – but as someone who knows Ruben reasonably well and as someone who has played with him – I would love him to go on and take that next step.

Wolves has been an amazing platform for him, it is just a shame they are not at the level they need to be at this point in his career for him to be able to stay.

He got an amazing farewell when he came off and at the final whistle as well. He will go down as a Wolves legend.
