Nuno delighted with 'very special' Adama Traore as Wolves progress in FA Cup

The Spaniard ended his goal drought, which had gone for almost a year, in spectacular fashion to seal a 1-0 third-round win over Crystal Palace at Molineux.

It was a pure moment of magic on an otherwise comfortable evening, and when asked if it will boost the winger's confidence moving forward, the delighted Nuno said: "He's always looking for ways to improve his game and help the team.

"He's a hard-working player. Of course, these special moments will give him confidence.

"He had good actions in the game – good delivering, good crossing – and we should take advantage. It can only boost his confidence, of course."

Having taken Traore off towards the end because of a bit of cramp, Nuno added: "He's a very special player with explosive actions, and we didn't want to push him any more as we have a very tight schedule."

Given time and space to find their rhythm by the defensive-minded visitors, Wolves put in a solid performance with Traore the standout while Nelson Semedo and Ruben Neves were also bright.

They will find out what awaits them in Monday night's draw, and Nuno said: "I think we played good. The first half was very good in terms of possession of the ball, not allowing space.

"We closed the gaps and worked really well, showed good combinations. In the second half, not so much but the boys worked very hard.

"The players coming in from the bench gave us a hand and the attitude was nice.

"It's a competition we want to compete in. We go game by game now and have to focus on the Premier League, it's a tight schedule.

"We'll see the draw and when it comes, we'll compete like we did in this game."

Wolves were able to give minutes to both Patrick Cutrone and Morgan Gibbs-White after recalling the pair from their loan spells with Fiorentina and Swansea respectively.

Fabio Silva led the line from the off but missed two golden opportunities on what was a frustrating night for the 18-year-old.

Picked out by superb Pedro Neto crosses in each half, the club-record buy saw both of his free headers sail off target.

And Nuno has urged Silva to improve in front of goal quickly, despite such moments being expected from someone still in the very early stages of their career.

“Fabio did a good game but he missed chances that he should do better at, especially with the cross from Pedro," added Nuno.

“You can’t always be sorry about it – there’s a lot of work to be done.

“He has to approach situations better. When you’re in the six-yard box you have to be decisive.

“I’m glad at the way he kept his shape and led the line because it’s difficult being the only man up there.

“But in a lot of respects, he has to be a lot better. We expect him to be more clinical and we will help him improve.

“Now is the right moment to improve for our offensive players and we have to be much more clinical.

“Patience is good but at the same time we have to improve.”
