The Stafford-born teenager, in his 57th appearance, finally found the back of the net for the first time when timing his burst into the six-yard box perfectly to slam home Pedro Neto's cross.

That was Wolves' second goal in a 4-0 win over Pyunik at Molineux, with Gibbs-White netting in front of the South Bank.

And the happy academy product said: "I’ve been waiting too long! But I’m happy it’s here now and I’m happy the boys got the 4-0 win.

"My teammates have been dying for me to score. Every day they’re saying: ‘come on Morgan, when’s this goal coming?’ And luckily enough I got the goal in front of the Molineux crowd."

Wolves and Gibbs-White will head to Turin next week to face Italian side Torino in the play-off round, with a place in the group stage on offer for the winner.

"We can’t wait to go to Turin – a beautiful place in Italy – but yet again Torino will be another tough team, so the boys are going to have to keep fighting and show a good performance again," Gibbs-White added.

"Playing teams from abroad is completely different to Premier League football, but fair play to Pyunik, they came out fighting, and it’s tough coming to an away team when you’re already 4-0 down.

"In the first-half, they came out fighting, they were strong, but I think they got tired towards the second-half and I think we outplayed them.

"Pedro, Cutrone; they played fantastic. They came in, they’ve trained with us, they’ve took the words off the gaffer and they’ve been playing well.

"It’s a new season, everyone’s different and it’s a new start, but we can take some parts of last season into Monday (against Manchester United). We go again and hopefully we can put on a good performance.

"It’s a massive game on Monday, and it’s good for us to put on a performance like this so we can take it on to Monday’s game."
