A seventh-placed finish could potentially lead to a Europa League campaign starting on July 25, should Manchester City win the FA Cup.

Before then Wolves are off to China from July 13-21.

And the majority of the squad are on international duty over the summer, including Matt Doherty who told the Express & Star: "We're all buzzing at finishing seventh so we're embracing everything that comes with that.

"I've never been to China so that'll be good and we're playing some good opposition out there.

"I've got 10 days of summer now! Then back to work with Ireland and finish on June 11.

"We've got a couple of Ireland games so we'll see what happens and then after that I can enjoy myself for a few weeks.

"We'll be back again before you know it with pre-season."

Wolves ended the season with a 2-0 defeat at Anfield on Sunday.

Liverpool won it through two Sadio Mane goals but Wolves created plenty of chances with Doherty hitting the bar.

"We should have got a point," the wing-back said.

"We got ourselves in some positions where you were thinking we'd score and it just didn't go in for us for whatever reason. We were really good in the second half, it just wouldn't go in.

"It was really enjoyable when you're involved in the game that much.

"We played with more freedom in the second half and had a go, like we have against most teams this season.

"The way the crowd were I thought Brighton were 3-0 up at half-time! I heard that many cheers.

"The quality in the game wasn't great and the atmosphere wasn't huge.

"It must have been weird for Liverpool not knowing what was happening, but they did their job and won the game."
