Wolves sharpshooters required for Arsenal test

Wolves will look to reproduce their Brighton attacking display against Arsenal tomorrow – but hopefully put their chances away.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s team mustered 22 shots on goal against the Seagulls and hit the woodwork twice through Diogo Jota.

They’ve enjoyed a few memorable days after the league’s big boys this season. They’ve beaten Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur and could easily have won at the Emirates, with Morgan Gibbs-White hitting the bar at the end of an entertaining 1-1 draw.

“Arsenal are a fantastic team but we look forward to it,” Coady said ahead of tomorrow’s reschedule game.

“We will learn from what happened against Brighton and play the way we have done because I thought we played well.

“As long as we learn from what we did on Saturday, we’ll be OK.

“We’ve got four games left and they’re important matches for us. We can’t wait for them. We always take it a game at a time and the next one is Arsenal so we’re looking forward to it.”

Wolves are 10th in the Premier League table, just one point behind seventh and face a crucial game on Saturday away at Watford.

Coady, though, wouldn’t be drawn on the race for seventh and possible Europa League football, should Manchester City win the FA Cup next month.

“We’ve been the same all season – we don’t really look where we are in the league,” the centre-half said.

“It’s always going to be close because it’s the Premier League and there are some fantastic teams, so we just need to make sure we concentrate on ourselves.

“The next game is Arsenal and as long as we do it right and be in the form we can do and create chances like we did on Saturday, we will be OK.

“We created a number of chances and we were unlucky to score. But Arsenal will be a different game.

“We will look at their strengths and their weaknesses and look at how we can capitalise on that. We will be ready for them.

Jota hit the crossbar in the first half with a clever looped effort and then nodded Raul Jimenez’s chipped pass against the post in the second half.

He and Jimenez have struck up an excellent and prolific partnership in recent months and Coady wants that to continue.

Coady says the in-form 22-year-old won’t be affected by not finding the back of the net against Brighton on Saturday.

“No, not at all,” Coady said. “People spoke about him at the start of the season and he came roaring back with how he is playing now.

“He’s not the type of lad who will let things affect him.

“He will go again on Wednesday. The way him and Raul are playing at the minute is a pleasure to see and long may that continue.”
