Conor Coady: Let’s fix Wolves' bottom six woes

Captain Conor Coady has called for Wolves to learn their lessons against teams at the lower end of the table.

Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Brighton extended Wolves’ poor record versus struggling sides – they have won just three of 11 matches against the current bottom six.

“It only becomes a concern if we don’t learn from it,” Coady said. “We are a team who are always learning and always trying to improve.

“We are always looking at our mistakes to try to improve and we did that last week as well because that was nowhere near good enough.

“I think as long as we’re improving, when we play teams like Brighton we should be OK and there won’t be any concerns about it.

“We opened them up a few times and created some good chances.

“We were gutted to come away with a point because we felt we deserved the win in the end and the fact we didn’t get it was disappointing because it felt like a lost chance.”

Wolves had spent the week in Marbella, a reward for their FA Cup quarter-final victory over Manchester United.

They produced an improved performance after last weekend’s disappointing defeat at Southampton.

Coady added: “The week was important for us. It’s always important when we go out there – it’s not to have fun or a holiday, we go there to do it properly.

“We train right and we enjoy going out there to spend a bit of time together.

“I think we showed we were a little bit revitalised in the way we played.

“So to come away without getting that goal or the win with the way we played, it was disappointing from our point of view.

“All we wanted to show was that those two games (Watford and Southampton) are out of the way now, which we did.

“I thought we deserved the win. I just felt we needed that bit of luck but we kept on going.

“We played some good stuff at times and moved them from side to side and we were patient with it.

“Now we can move on to the next one, which is Arsenal, and we can’t wait for it.”
