Huddersfield v Wolves: Inside track on the Terriers

Wolves make the trip to Huddersfield tomorrow hoping to get one back over a side who managed to get the better of them at Molineux.

Can Wolves get the better of Jan Siewert's men?

With that being the case, we've called upon John McNamara, writer for TerrierBlog, to get the inside track on the Terriers.

See what he has to say here...

Much has changed at Huddersfield since Wolves last took on the Terriers, with David Wagner departing the club - how has Jan Siewert fared so far?

David Wagner has indeed left and there seems to be a bit of a void at the club since his departure.

Jan Siewert has said all the right things so far but as of yet, he has been unable to alter the results on the pitch.

We are playing with a bit more attacking freedom under Siewert but with that comes added naivety at the back which has really cost us.

It doesn't look great in terms of survival hopes for the Terriers now, is there a feel of the team preparing for the Championship as opposed to fighting to stay up?

The last-minute loss to away to Fulham at the end of December sealed our fate I'm afraid.

Owner Dean Hoyle came out after that game claiming that we would not 'sleepwalk into relegation'. In a way he was right, we've somersaulted head first into it instead and we are now definitely preparing for the Championship.

It's likely that the Terriers will be playing Championship football next season.

Jan Siewert is constantly changing his line-up as he clearly attempts to work out who he does and doesn't want at the club next season.

January has obviously come and gone now, what sort of transfer business went on at the John Smith's Stadium?

Not much to be honest.

An inexperienced but clearly past it Jason Puncheon was brought in on loan along with Karlan Grant from Charlton Athletic.

The young forward seems to have plenty of promise and was delighted to notch his first Premier League goal against Arsenal recently.

Siewert has been cautious with his introduction of Grant thus far but I'd expect him to start against Wolves.

How have you rated that business so far?

Puncheon was and is pointless, much like ourselves!

Grant does have potential and hopefully will excel in the Championship next season.

Huddersfield Town have struggled this season.

What sort of football can we expect from the Terriers? We saw them outplay Wolves at Molineux earlier this season, could we see a repeat of that?

There does seem to be a strange anomaly with regards to playing Wolves, we always tend to win for some reason. That's the only reason I have a modicum of hope ahead of this match.

However if we look at the facts and the way that we've been playing recently, I'd expect a fairly timid Huddersfield side to be blown away by Wolves.

Are there any injury worries hurting Huddersfield at the moment?

Danny Williams will miss this game through injury, but that's not particularly news as I can't remember the last time he kicked a ball in anger.

Other than that we've got a clean bill of health.

What's your predicted XI for the game?

(4-2-3-1) Lossl, Hadergjonaj, Lowe, Schindler, Kongolo, Mooy, Hogg, Kachunga, Pritchard, Diakhaby, Grant.

Aaron Mooy hasn't been able to carry the Terriers to success this season.

We saw you share some strong views regarding Wolves earlier this season, do you stand by those comments, do you believe Wolves could manage a seventh placed finish and would it be deserved in your opinion?

Absolutely. After those initial comments I received quite a lot of criticism from Wolves fans on social media which actually reaffirmed my opinion.

I think if Wolves' fans look at it objectively they'll agree that their club's business structure is symptomatic of exactly what's wrong with modern football.

I personally can't wait to return to the Championship to proper football - none of this fireworks nonsense.

Your match prediction?

Huddersfield Town 0 Wolves 2
