The 28-year-old has been on loan with Middlesbrough since August, playing 13 times in all competitions.

However the Potters are keen to snap up the centre half on a permanent deal – and a move closer to home would be ideal for Brierley Hill-born man.

Batth featured 21 times last season as Wolves stormed to the Championship title, but was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the Premier League campaign.

A permanent move would end an 18-year association with the club.

He is one of several players set to move on in the coming days.

Leo Bonatini will be allowed to leave on loan, while the likes of Connor Ronan, Donovan Wilson and Joe Mason are also set for temporary deals before Thursday's 11pm deadline.
