Boly was sent off in the 19th minute at the Etihad for a foul on Bernardo Silva.

He will now miss the league games against Leicester City and West Ham United – both at Molineux – as well as the FA Cup fourth round tie at either Stoke City or Shrewsbury, who played their third round replay tonight (Tuesday).

Nuno Espirito Santo said of Boly's dismissal: "I didn't see the images, but it was very close to me and I think it was a red card.

"It's clear, isn't it? It's a red card."

It was Wolves' first red card since Ruben Neves and Matt Doherty were sent off at Middlesbrough in March last year.
