Rui Patricio

Predictably experienced one of his busiest nights of the campaign – and helped keep the score down. A couple of good saves from David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne and also rushed out to deny Raheem Sterling at his feet. Should arguably be intercepting Leroy Sane's pass to Gabriel Jesus for the opener, but he was given no help by his defenders for that one. 8/10

Ryan Bennett

A busy night for everyone at the back and Bennett found it tough against the brilliant Sane. Yes he barely touched Raheem Sterling for the penalty but either way he's let the England man wriggle the wrong side of him in the box. Can't argue with his attitude or application though and he played his part in helping stop City slice through Wolves during a long second half. 6/10

Conor Coady

A few important clearances but this was a rare off night for Coady who will have been disappointed not to get near Jesus for the opener and then is unlucky to divert De Bruyne's cross past his own keeper for an own goal for the third. 5/10

Willy Boly

A 'headsgone' moment for Boly who may have (irrelevantly) won the ball in his tackle on Bernardo Silva, but undoubtedly uses unnecessarily excessive force when doing so. It's a regulation challenge near halfway, there's no need to go in that strong. It's not even a foul 15 years ago but the game has changed and all players are made aware of what they can and can't get away with. Comparisons can be made with the Vincent Kompany tackle on Mo Salah, but by the letter of the law that should have been a red too. Wolves are far less likely to get away with it, though. A big loss for three games now. Touched the ball three times. 2/10

Matt Doherty

Caught flat-footed for the opener when Sane runs in behind him to tee up Jesus. Then a minute later wasted a great opportunity on the right with a poor cross. Not his night at all against a very tough opponent and registered a pass accuracy of just 54 per cent. 5/10

Ruben Neves

Talking of pass accuracy, Neves' was only 67 per cent, incredibly low by his standards. Put in a good shift, defended well and won his fair share of tackles but this wasn't the night for him to show what he can do. Wolves fans may secretly thank him for that, given it was Manchester City he was up against. 6/10

Joao Moutinho

Completed just 20 passes in his 72 minutes on the field, which must be his lowest figure of the season. A highlight was a brilliant tackle from behind on Sane as he won the ball in midfield and set Wolves on the counter. Otherwise his influence was minimal, but it must be said his work ethic was tremendous yet again. 6/10

Leander Dendoncker

Had earned his start on merit after a couple of solid performances – and he continued that theme here. Spent the majority of the game at left centre-half after Boly's red card and he made a big case for starting in that position against Leicester next week. His running style can resemble a panicked ostrich but on the ball he's calm and composed and adds a physicality and strength that Wolves sometimes lack. Four tackles, four clearances and 90 per cent pass accuracy (the highest of any Wolves player) make for good reading too. 7/10

Jonny Castro Otto

A solid performance from Jonny who coped well against Sterling and, unlike many of his team mates, was sensible and not rushed in possession (84 per cent pass accuracy). Wasted Wolves' best chance of the night when he placed the ball wide after being teed up by Jimenez (or strongly over-hit a poor pass to Jota – either way he fluffed it) but overall he did pretty well. 7/10

Raul Jimenez

A couple of really nice moments, finding Doherty in space after turning with his back to goal and then setting up Jonny for the aforementioned chance. That was it, though, as the Mexican was withdrawn at half-time. Will be nice and fresh for Leicester next weekend. 6/10

Diogo Jota

Made a few decent runs off the ball and got in a couple of good positions around the City box. Again, worked hard, rarely got a chance to shine. 6/10

Substitutes

Adama Traore (for Jimenez, 45)

Wolves' primary attacking tactic in the second half seemed to be 'give it to Traore', which suited the Spaniard just fine as he embarked on a succession of gallivanting surges into the City half, taking on all comers. He got his head down, barged defenders out the way and ran as fast as he could like he was a contestant on Takeshi's Castle. Got to the byline a couple of times and caused a bit of minor mayhem, which was about all he could do with Wolves penned in for most of the half. 7/10

Romain Saiss (for Jota, 58)

A surprise to see him enter the fray with Nuno making a defensive substitution with Wolves 2-0 down. Saiss did fine though; nothing outlandish but nothing too tangible either. 6/10

Morgan Gibbs-White (for Moutinho, 72)

Couldn't get the better of Edersen when the keeper came flying out. Other than that Gibbs-White was fairly quiet as the game petered out. N/A
