The midfielder rejoins Shrewsbury twelve years on from his last appearance in in Blue and Amber, back in 2007, at the end of spell that saw him make 137 appearances.

Edwards, 32, made no secret of his desire to return to Shrewsbury - where he rose through the ranks - before he retires from playing.

He is a former Wales international and Wolves team-mate of Town boss Sam Ricketts, who said there was 'always a chance' Edwards would return.

The Pontesbury-born box-to-box midfielder, whose family live locally, earned 43 Welsh caps during his ten-year international career.

Edwards overcome a medial knee ligament injury but did not play any Championship football during his time with Reading this season.

During his time with Wolves, Edwards made over 300 appearances and helped the club to secure promotion from both League One and the Championship.

The deal will see him at Montgomery Waters Meadow until 2021.
