The in-form 22-year-old, who has netted two goals in his last three appearances, limped off at half-time during last weekend's 2-0 win over Bournemouth with a hamstring problem.

Jota took part in light training sessions this week, the Express & Star understands.

However due to blood swelling around the affected area, a proper diagnosis isn't yet possible.

Nuno said at today's pre-Liverpool press conference: "It's hamstring, I don't know the total extent of the injury because he has a big edema, so the diagnosis cannot be totally accurate because of the blood, you cannot see from the images what to expect.

"We have to wait a couple days more until the blood goes away so the doctor does a new exam and we have the exact diagnosis.

"For tomorrow Jota is impossible, hopefully he'll be back soon."
