On-loan Benfica striker Jimenez has scored two goals in his past three appearances to take his tally for the season to five, plus a further five assists.

Wolves have an option to buy him at the end of the campaign. Nuno Espirito Santo says any decision will wait until then.

Jimenez said: " I want people to think I am someone they want to have here.

"But we have to wait and see what decisions they take.

"I don’t know (if I'm staying). I’m going to keep working and doing my job here.

"That decision does not belong to me. I feel good here, I’m fine, but that’s the decision of other people."

Jimenez opened the scoring in Saturday's 2-0 win over Bournemouth, netting an early goal when he turned home Diogo Jota's cross-shot.

"This season we’ve been scoring more goals in the second half so it was important for us to manage a game when we scored in the first half," the 27-year-old added.

"I saw that Diogo was going to shoot/cross and that’s the reason why I was waiting there in the perfect moment to be there and score.

"We feel amazing. We know that we have a great team to compete and we’ve done good things to be in this position. Maybe we can go up in the table.

“I'm not surprised because we have been working towards that since pre-season, we’ve worked on our style, our game and I know we are much better now because of that."

Wolves now host unbeaten leaders Liverpool at Molineux on Friday in an eagerly-anticipated clash.

"It's going to be a great game," Jimenez added. "We know it’s going to be a very difficult game because they are the best team now in the league because they've been at the top of the table. But we can compete with them because we have very good players to take into this match."
