Born in Sutton Coldfield, Ikeme worked through the youth ranks at Wolves, making his first appearance against Chester City in the League Cup in 2005.

Spending time on-loan at no more than eight different clubs between 2004 and 2012, he eventually sealed his place as Wolves' number one, making a total of 207 appearances for the club.

He made more than 40 league appearances during the memorable 2013/14 League One winning season, behind only Danny Batth and then-captain Sam Ricketts.

Called up to the Nigeria national team in 2015, Ikeme went on to make nine appearances for the African nation, and even earned an honorary spot on their 2018 World Cup squad, as is tradition for the side.

In July 2017, Wolves confirmed the goalkeeper had been diagnosed with acute Leukaemia, forcing him to miss the entirety of the club's title-winning campaign which saw them promoted back to the Premier League.

The 32-year-old announced that he was in complete remission in June 2018. Despite this, Ikeme this week decided to hang up the gloves.
