The 20-year-old central midfielder or attacking midfielder was released by Liverpool two months ago.
He came through Porto's academy before joining Liverpool in 2015.
Alves didn't make a first team appearance for the Reds but Wolves have spotted some potential in the youngster who will go straight into Rob Edwards' Under-23 squad.
Alves has signed a two-year contract at Molineux.
Wolves U23s are currently in Holland and place PEC Zwolle (Wednesday) and Vitesse (Saturday).
