Former boss Paul Lambert dismisses reports linking Wolves with £35m Jack Butland bid
Former Wolves boss Paul Lambert has dismissed reports of Jack Butland heading to Molineux.
Nuno's side were linked with a move for the England goalkeeper last week, with reports claiming Wolves were keen to bid a whopping £35m for his services.
But now-Stoke manager Lambert laughed off speculation surrounding the young stopper, stating that the sum would only get his 'right-hand glove' through the door.
"£35m... is that for one glove?" Lambert said.
"The way the modern market is you might get one glove for that."
"I know the people at Wolves, but that will get Jack’s right-hand glove!"
Stoke are at risk of swapping places with Wolves next season, as they currently occupy 19th place in the Premier League table, three points from safety and with a vastly inferior goal difference to their rivals.
Should they get relegated, Butland will likely be of interest to many sides in the Premier League - especially if he performs well with England during this summer's World Cup, should he win the number one shirt.
Wolves meanwhile have already been linked with several audacious bids for players having secured their place as Championship title winners.
Fellow Potter Joe Allen was recently mentioned in reports, whilst other national newspapers claimed that Manchester City centre back Elaquim Mangala and Arsenal's Jack Wilshere could be of interest.
